Who is everyone’s favorite ogre? I’d say Shrek! 3d ogre models like the ones below will certainly make you a shriek if you met them in the dark. But did you know the word ogre is of French origin.
In German, this French word became associated with the characters in German fairy tales who are cannibals (adult-eaters) or specifically child-eaters.
Foreign, especially English-speaking, authors do not realize this, and translation of their works into German has to use some other description to avoid association with cannibalism, which would render the characters incapable of being a figure of fun, or an incidental character type to a fantasy story or game, at all.
Did you know that the ogre inspired J.R.R. Tolkien’s Orcs?
Anyway my favorite 3d ogre models at DAZ are ones like: Raw ogre, which is brutish savage classic Ogre. This is a large monstrosity to truly terrorize any fantasy scene.
This set includes male and female Ogres with additional scar and war paint options, to make an entire clan.
Plus, new SSS maps allow these characters to be rendered with an even greater lifelike quality. When you are walking alone in an ogre infested forest don’t forget to speak out loud:
Steel peg, ice pick, fire thong, ho!
Sliver the heart of friend or foe!
Blood in the eye-yo!
Ogres one and all!
Creating the perfect scenes with these 3d ogre models is easy using the FREE software DAZ Studio 4. Ogres are mean ugly dangerous and fun! Now you can have all the fun you want with some really cool 3d ogre models. Get Troll, get pig face creatures, get giants, and other assorted green things that go bump in the night.
Because some of them are more than a man, but not quite a monster, they haunt the forests along forgotten trails.
